Lot 393: Walnut Chippendale tall case clock by Duncan Beard, Appoquinimink. Broken scroll bonnet with spiral turned rosettes over an arched door flanked by freestanding reeded columns, front and back, containing 8-day brass movement with an engraved arched brass & silver dial with the name "Duncan Beard Appoquinimink" engraved over the moon dial. Dial with black painted Roman numerals in the chapter ring surrounding foliate engraved central field containing the second hand and a date window. Corners with silvered floral and foliate design spandrels. Solid crotch walnut waist door with arched top flanked by inset fluted quarter columns. Inside of door with penciled repair history dating back to 1864 as late as 1981. Over a base with shaped crotch walnut turtle panel, also flanked by inset fluted quarter columns. All raised on OG bracket feet. 8' 4.5" to top of scroll, the end of each foot is ended out about 1 1/4", the 3 finials are missing, there are 2 splits in the right corners of the turtle panel.
